"SPEAKall!" is working incredibly with our children

We are using Speakall with children in a clinical setting and school setting, and it is working incredibly with our children.I was wondering if you have developed the ability to be able to transfer the data from one iPad to another? If a child uses an iPad at school and at home, then it would be great to be able to transfer the data without having to recreate the pic cards.

Our children are able to effectively communicate their needs to teachers, parents, and staff

Our children are able to effectively communicate their needs to teachers, parents, and staff, I am sure that they feel as if they finally have a voice!

We are contracted with a couple of parishes in Louisiana to work with children varying in special needs. We have an entire school district utilizing SpeakAll! with children who struggle with communication! We have helped to train the teachers who have really embraced this product!

Several of our children are non-verbal and many struggle with intelligible speech. This has particularly helped to bridge our communication gap as well as reduce behaviors significantly!

I fell in love with an app.

I fell in love with this app at a presentation at ASHA and have not been disappointed.   - SPEAKall! is easily adaptable to individual communication needs from single words to phrases and sentences across requesting and shared activities. The organization by activity and learner profile provides ease of use and the evidence base is instrumental for clinical decision-making. Its an outstanding combination of tools that make it my “go to” app.

After wading through the choices in AAC for years when I saw this app demonstrated, I knew this app was “it” for most of my clients.  Users can request, combine words and participate in shared activities.  I can set up learner profiles across individuals to organize by client need. Programming is simple and the choices are endlessly adaptable across language functions.  This app has been an outstandingly successful with the families I work with.

We are excited to have a new way to capitalize on the technology interest our clients with ASD...

We were immediately impressed by the clean layout of the SPEAKall! interface as we have been looking for ways to lesson sensory overload issues with dynamic displays for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The evidence presented to date indicating efficacy for requesting is very reassuring and we look forward to the possibility of further examination of efficacy for additional communicative functions. We are excited to have a new way to capitalize on the technology interest our clients with ASD often have through the use of this promising new app in the context of multi-modal communication!

Cool app! I give it a five star!

I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to use SPEAKall! app with my clients on shaping their behavior of requesting for a year. This app is fantastic! It is easy to use and it allows the users to create as many symbols as they need. You can use any commercial graphic symbols you already purchased or take a picture and create your own! The recording of symbol labels is pretty simple and straightforward. Combined with the PECS, the use of iPad can eventually fade out when the children learn to request with their natural speech. Cool app! I give it a five star!

A power therapeutic tool that is so user friendly ... customize the app within minutes

At CLASS, Inc. we used SPEAKall! throughout today's speech therapy sessions. The simple customization process allowed us to quickly modify the app; in just a few minutes we created displays that effectively matched the communication skills of our individual clients. Adding vocabulary to incorporate the target therapy goals of the session was a snap! This is a power therapeutic tool that is so user friendly, even folks unfamiliar with AAC can learn to customize the app within minutes. SPEAK MODalities, you have created a winner!!

I have been using this app for students with other developmental delays (e.g., intellectual disability, cerebral palsy)...

SpeakAll was originally introduced to me as an AAC solution for students with autism but I have been using this app for students with other developmental delays (e.g., intellectual disability, cerebral palsy). For any AAC SLP that wants to transition a student away from PECS and into the iPad, SpeakAll really offers a fantastic, research-based solution!

Should be in the professional tool kit of anyone working in the field of autism or other language interventions...

The SPEAKall! app is a major technological advance in the available AAC tool kit for use with children with autism and other communication disorders. The transparency of the operations make the stimulus and response items a practical application that can be individualized for each child. The system is easy to understand, learn, adapt, and deliver and should be in the professional tool kit of anyone working in the field of autism or other language interventions.

I like the clarity of the easy link to PECS format...

Wow – that app is really fantastic! I like the clarity of the easy link to PECS format, and it stays at a nice concrete level for children. Moving the symbols to a "speak" line is so much more concrete than touching it to activate it, and it clearly gets nice results from the children.

SpeakAll! Works Great for my Grandson

My 13 year old grandson, who is nonverbal with severe autism, has been using the SPEAKall app for several months. This has been a great transition from his PECS book to using the iPad to communicate. It’s definitely a positive for him to hear the words of what he chooses as well. As a result of this, we sometimes get him to make the initial sound of the item he has chosen which is very encouraging . I like the way the app scrambles the choices after each time that he makes a request so he actually has to concentrate to make his choice rather than just relying on its placement on the iPad. Another plus for SPEAKall! is the reasonable cost of this app compared to other communication apps on the market.

Outstanding Application that is Intuitive and Easy to Individualize

What an outstanding application for individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities! As both a special educator and early childhood professional I am impressed with the usability of this app! Not only is this application affordable for my students but it was easy for students to navigate. The design was intuitive in its use, even for my youngest users with cognitive disability. One of the greatest features is the ability to import images for creating your own icons and recording your own audio, making it personal & individualized to each users needs!

Intuitive App, Appreciate Video Demonstrations

The SPEAKall! app is intuitive and provides educators, SLPs, and families with an easy way to transition from picture exchange. One of the things that really sets this app from others is the plethora of videos demonstrating how to use it. The video demonstrations are essential and I truly appreciate having access to them.

As a teacher, I'm always looking for a means of communication for my students. A large percentage of students I have taught over the last 13 years have unintelligible speech, a communication disorder or are non-verbal.  SPEAKall! not only gives the students a voice, but allows them to communicate their wants and needs. This helps them become more independent.  I think we're empowering the students…  It's a self-esteem thing; it's amazing to see their excitement.  When you give students with autism a choice verbally, like 'would you like a hamburger or pizza?,' generally, they either copy what you said or choose the last item stated.  Now, if we're at the snack table or getting ready to go to lunch, the student can use the iPad to select the picture and verbally tell me exactly what he wants for lunch or snack, rather than me making the decision for him.

"Mallory has been using SPEAK all! for a few months, and before it was such a struggle for her to explain to us her needs and wants.  We've seen a marked improvement in [her] – she enjoys using the iPad and her frustration level has dropped dramatically."

"We've found that David is building real sentences that we weren't getting no matter how many times we mimicked the behavior we wanted from him.  SPEAK all! helped him complete more meaningful, interesting sentences, which led to more meaningful, interesting communication. He enjoys the interface, and this has helped him pick up SPEAK all! very quickly."

"After using this with a couple of my students I really think this is going to be my go to app for communication activities.  It has everything I need in features and functionality, and now I can focus more on techniques and activities instead of struggling to get an app to do what I want…So far it looks superior to any other apps I’ve used in the past, especially at emulating PECS. The Speak all app has been a good way for [students] to transition from manually removing pics off of a binder and placing them on a sentence strip to using more sophisticated electronic devices."
